WebServices

Web services are a specific form of middleware. Web services allow different (key business) applications to communicate with each other, exchange data and activate certain program modules (procedures and functions) remotely. Web services are a combination of concepts and technology and use web standards such as HTTP and XML that allow them to communicate with each other via the internet, irrespective of the language in which they were developed and the platform on which they are running. Among the factors that has made web services possible is the successful combination of Java™ and XML, which is also HintTech's speciality.

In recent years many enterprises have invested in ICT. Many front-end and back-end processes such as financial systems, websites and production have been partly or fully automated. But these often critical business systems carry out specific tasks and are generally unable to communicate with each other to create a coherent system. So information in these different systems cannot be shared with other systems.

The power of web services lies in the fact that they are self-describing: in other words, one application can ask another application how to retrieve the web services and what parameters are returned. The following specific web service standards are used for this: SOAP - Simple Object Access Protocol, WSDL - Web Services Description Language and UDDI - Universal Description, Discovery and Integration standard. These internet standards are used both by the Microsoft .Net™ architecture and by IBM WebSphere Java™ (J2EE™) architecture.

Through the use of web services, HintTech is able to integrate systems and allow pieces of software to communicate with each other without high costs for extra hardware and software.
