03 September 2007 - This month ICT service provider HintTech and software supplier Mendix signed a partnership agreement. With this agreement they unify model-driven development, implementation and project management relating to business process management (BPM) software. The agreement applies for both the Netherlands and the United States.
Both companies have their origins in Delft University of Technology. The managing directors of the two companies got to know each other through the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 network and decided to collaborate when it became clear that there was a good fit between their products and, most importantly, their vision of the new generation of software. While Mendix will supply the platform for automating business and chain processes quickly, HintTech will be responsible for implementing and managing it.
HintTech has been active in the United States from its office in San Francisco for the last year. Now that Mendix has also taken the step to cross the Atlantic, the companies will collaborate there too. “In the US we focus on the top 2,000 companies”, explains Derek Roos, CEO of Mendix. “HintTech’s consultants are certified for the Mendix software. We are now getting the first projects off the ground.” He says of the collaborative partnership: “HintTech has a broad portfolio of expertise in software development and project management. It is a medium-sized company, so it has the clout which is often lacking in large companies. On the other hand, HintTech does have enough capacity for large projects. And we also share the same vision about the future of technology.”
“Software development needs to become faster and cheaper, and much more flexible. ICT is meant to facilitate business processes, not vice versa”, observes Egbert Hendriks, CEO of HintTech. “With Mendix’s model-driven architecture we can react much more flexibly and quickly to changing situations at clients. That is an enormous added value. In addition, collaborating with Derek Roos is a real pleasure and we have the same background and ambition.”
Mendix develops software products which make it easy for clients to adapt their business to changing requirements. The Mendix products are based on the Mendix Business Process Platform, which allows business analysts to build their own visual models of processes and applications and to integrate them easily with existing systems. The Mendix platform is fully integrated, open, flexible and XML-based. Well-known companies such as Sandd, medical insurer Agis, Sanoma and newspaper group NRp Dagbladen use Mendix products. Mendix has offices in Rotterdam and Boston and since its foundation in 2005 its staff numbers have grown to 30. For more information, see www.mendix.com.
