HintTech declared Top ICT Employer 2008

16 June 2008 - ICT service provider HintTech has been declared a Top ICT Employer for 2008 by CRF, specialist in the field of employment conditions. This title is only awarded to employers which satisfy stringent testing criteria.

CRF carries out independent international research into evaluations of primary and secondary employment conditions, internal promotion opportunities, working atmosphere and working conditions, education and training, and innovation. To enable it to evaluate this, it conducts interviews with employees.  A company which satisfies the requirements specified by CRF is allowed to call itself a Top ICT Employer for a year. Young, highly educated ICT professionals in particular see this as proof of good employership and regard this as an important factor in their choice of future employer.

Good secondary employment conditions

HintTech achieved an average score of 8.5 out of 10 (or 25.5 stars out of a possible total of 30 stars). The secondary employment conditions scored particularly high (a 10), but internal promotion opportunities and innovation were also evaluated positively by the employees. Ted de Gouw, project leader at HintTech, explains: “HintTech gives you the opportunity to grow. I used to work for large ICT service providers and there they were happy if you did what you were hired for. At HintTech they look at your ambitions and possibilities. They draw up a personal growth plan for you and you can do the training courses that you want.”

De Gouw started at HintTech as a programmer in 2005 and quickly progressed to service manager and project leader. Various factors may be responsible for this contrast. Says De Gouw, “Those other companies were a lot bigger, so you’re just a cog in the machine. Here there is more attention to the individual and what that person wants. The company is also growing fast, and lots of opportunities are being created as a result.” HintTech has already made it onto the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 list two years running and has grown from seven to 113 employees within six years.

Trends

CRF’s research reveals a striking trend: creating a ‘club feel’ with the aid of an ‘Employer Branding Strategy’ is becoming increasingly important. “Employees want to recognise themselves in the organisation’s identity. Just as people derive a particular status from a golf club, student association or nightclub, you also derive a status from the company where you work”, explains Marianne Drop, Project Manager for CRF Nederland.

On 14 June 2008 a special report on the Top ICT Employers for 2008 appeared in the NRC Handelsblad daily newspaper.
